We the people of trinidad & Tobago call on the People's Partnership to draft legislation and set up facilities for the enforcement of honesty and integrity in Public Office, through the establishment of a Task Force and a High Crimes Court to deal specifically with matters of said Task Force.
We call on the Government to establish a Corruption Task Force URGENTLY and to employ the services of Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj or equally able and motivated individuals to head said Task Force, with an aim to unearthing past and present corruptions and crimes against the State and the people regardless of Party or Government affiliations, and to launch investigations into all public works projects, Ministries, agreements, contracts, proposals whether past, present or future, with a mandate to identify potential or existing financial malfeasance against the Treasury, the State and the People of Trinidad & Tobago and to facilitate the prosecuting and punishment of individuals and companies found to be engaged or engaging in such activities.
We call on the Government in cooperation with the Judiciary to establish a 'High Crimes' Court with specific jurisdiction over these matters, staffed and funded to expedite these matters with with judicious haste.
We call on the Attorney General to draft Legislation to lay before Parliament consisting of rules to govern 'High Crimes' and its prosecution.
We call on the Government and the Attorney General to draft Legislation to lay before Parliament a 'whistle blower' law, where people would be compelled to act on breeches of law that they know to exist or risk being charged as accomplices or accessories after the fact where public works projects are concerned.
We call on the People's Partnership in general and the Attorney General in particular to move forward in the extradition of Steve Ferguson and Ishwar Galbaransingh in keeping with existing international Treaties and as an example to all who would betray the public's trust.
We call on the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecutions to lay charges against Calder Hart under the findings of and in guidance with the UFF report as well as any separate and or other investigations that would allow for said prosecution and request he be extradited to Trinidad under the same Treaties.
We call on the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecutions to lay charges against any and all accomplices named in said reports and investigations and to have them brought to swift justice. We call on the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecutions and agents of the treasury to begin proceedings under the Integrity in Public Life Act to seize and repatriate all funds and equity misappropriated from the Treasury, the State and or the People of Trinidad & Tobago.
We also call on the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecutions and agents of the treasury to begin proceedings under the Integrity in Public Life Act to seize and repatriate all proceeds from said misappropriation, all gifts, loans, agreements, contracts, and to repatriate same and cancel where appropriate such items as may be deemed the property of the People, or in contravention with the best practices available and governed by rules and regulations as they exist, and where no such rules and regulations exist, tho draft same for the purposes of this Act.
This may not be a definitive list, but it is an excellent start to dealing with this issue.
Debate is needed, but action is also needed.
