This Year ah Singin' a Calypso...

They say to be a true Trinidadian & Tobagonian writer you have to be able to write in 'Trini' dialect and you have to try your hand at writing at least one calypso, so I've decided to kill two birds with one stone as it were. I know it's supposed to be 'four verse and chorus,' but i didn't want to give away everything just yet in case I really put music to it and throw my hat in the ring.  Until then here goes, for your reading pleasure:

1.
The UNC tell the people that  they real ready

that they have a serious plan to take back de country

they had the solution for the problem  all the time

but like iz only certain type of people committing crime

That they had no real plan for crime it iz plain to see

So the country end up with a state of emergency

one setta talk about how they helping we

while all dem big drug kingpin still roaming free

so for the all the deceivers who playing wise,

This year ah writing a calypso.
And for all the believers who still waiting to rise

This year ah singing a calypso

Cause is one setta talk yuh people talking

while all over the country the people bawling

instead of rising we fall down real low

And cause me to end up writing ah calypso

Patos thought he fool we when he hug up Rowley

While quietly pushing Amery Browne secretly
But Dr. Browne say he taking the Leader's side

But like he only taking him for a long ass ride

Cause everyday we only hearing talk

How the PNM want Rowley to walk

But Dr. Rowley boy yuh let we down real bad

and now you cyah even win a bingo in Trinidad

For all those who were fooled by the balisier
This year ah writing a calypso.
and who really thought Patos was going away

This year i singing a calypso

Cuz Rowley yuh say we was getting dry docking

and all who need to go you said would be going

but if it was one setta lie you was lying

They tell me tell Dr. Rowley he's a damn bo bo

and to  call out his name in mih calypso

and if Patos doh know iz time to go

call his name too in mih calypso

like somebody have to say haul yuh so and so

So ah write it down nice in mih calypso

Comrade Roget I must salute you

for demonstrating clearly what you mustn't do

when you are a leader you must tell the truth

and not just function in your own pursuit

when you decided to act on your own accord

and say to ass with what the treasury could really afford

from that moment on your plan was sure to fail

cuz like you forget iz de dog that does wag de tail

so for the mooks that still following you
