Welcome to Not Necessarily the News, the only show that takes a no holds barred look at the stories making news, those not making news and those that should be making news.
In the headlines:
Today The National Trade union Center (NATUC), bogged down in wage negotiations with the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) announced that it will be standing in solidarity with the Public Services Association's (PSA) announced 'Black Thursday' day of resistance and will be staging its own 'White Friday' protest.
Not to be outdone, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance (GALA) immediately announced that they too will be protesting that very week and will be observing 'Pink Wednesday' and 'Plaid Tuesday' respectively.
When contacted, a spokesperson for the Government announced that, as we are a rainbow nation the Government respects and encourages all colors equally under the sun. A member of the UNC (who requested anonymity) said that the Government, through the Offices of the Attorney General, was paying close attention to all the announced 'colored' days, because the Government already had dibs on yellow.
There is also a rumored strike planned by the Hairdressers and Nail Technicians Union (HANTU), but they have not settled on a color of their own, reportedly torn between fuschia and lime green with sparkles.
In other news:
Justice Gillian Lucky has been appointed to head the Police Complaints Authority, promising to bring back respect for the service. The last person to make that same promise is current head of the Police Service Commission who, when caught violating a traffic law, used his office to get out of the ticket, ignored the instructions of Police Officers on duty, and was rewarded with a pass by the Commissioner of Police, thereby disrespecting every level of national policing in one single act.
